Qing Dynasty vase, with flambé glazing: globular vase with high and straight neck, modern, but suggestive for the drippings. Thick underglazing with blue and red dripping effect on a blue background; greenish-yellow color on the palate with craquelé.
The effect called 'flambè' belongs to the category of large fire monochromes, which consisted of a particular way of firing a blanket that incorporated copper oxide-based colors, with the addition of blue. This flambé effect is called yao pien.
