'In large tombs it is common to find whole multitudes of identical figures, among them however, some female statuettes are treated in a less conventional and more interesting way (from their clothes we can trace the evolution of fashion during the Tang period; the hairstyles are varied, with one or two buns, fastened with ribbons, etc..), confirming the great influence of the female role at the time' (cf.
