Bowl in the shape of a silver ingot - Qing Dynasty.
The shape suggests that of the taele, i.e. a piece of silver which was used as a unit of measure for silver.
The piece, on medium heat, required two firings, and because it was cooked twice it was called a 'biscotto'.
Yellow is the imperial color par excellence: by analogy with the color of loess it was related to the cults of the earth and the rites of agriculture and silk.
