Among the export products for the western market, also called 'Chinese export painting', this painting shows a group of musicians in a wedding procession.
It is part of 12 paintings in a red painted wooden frame, to be arranged in series because they illustrate scenes of celebrations for particular occasions. In this case it is a series of scenes illustrating a wedding. The scene is painted in watercolor, with bright colors.
