The photographic exhibit "Daily Bread" tells what children around the world eat. 20 shots by Gregg Segal, a Californian photographer, who explores cultures, identities and behaviors through his camera, and it does so in an unusual and engaging way.

Exhibit “Daily Bread – Daily Food
We are the food we eat, the games we have played, the friends we have met. Twenty images that make you think about food and relationships without guilt, without blaming anyone.
The exhibit entitled "Daily Bread" presents 20 photos of Gregg Segal, carefully set at the Museum of Chinese Art and Ethnography of Parma; throughout this March, these photos seem to dialogue with the rest of the museum's objects. The students of ITIS Galilei San Secondo Parmense were active participants with reflections, discussions, videos and drama plays, workshops. It was not a foregone conclusion, but the students who set-up the exhibit were capable of doing this, reflecting, remaking, reshaping, thinking about problems, and always arriving at solutions together.
Diversity in the world, and the nonsense of it all: there are those who can afford to eat out of boredom, and throw in the garbage, and there are those who can only afford a poor dish of rice. Seasoned perhaps by the fear of tomorrow. The students who participated to the Social Planning workshop also wanted to tell us about this paradox, that is not so distant from our real life.
And thanks to these wonderful students who animated the Gregg Segal exhibition, with the disruptive strength and vitality of their teen age years, they showed us how much they already know: thinking about food, setting up the exhibition, organizing guided tours and performances means getting involved, and now “Daily Bread ”also talks about them. That’s what we liked the most: interpreting these wonderful photo images with their eyes.
Besides being truly beautiful, the photos allow you to browse through the eating habits of different parts of the world. Because every child photographed (in the photo there is his one-week food diary), is the mirror of the environment in which he lives, his family, his dreams and his games.
The "Daily Bread" exhibit is part of the project "Food for all: itinerant laboratory between food and culture", commissioned by Forum Solidaritetà in collaboration with Cibopertutti, a network that thanks to Kuminda, weaves and connects the experience of twenty organizations in Parma. The project takes the opportunity of Parma2020 so that the food culture, so rooted in our territory, is enriched with the dimensions of sustainability, rights and respect for diversity.
The exhibit with these fantastic curators of Gregg Segal's shots, remains open at the Museum until March 31st.
