Incense Burner in the Shape of an Ogre/Orc - Ming Dynasty. A fantastic animal, with the squat body resting on powerful clawed paws, the neck is completely ringed by a flowing mane and the head has the typical appearance of the terrifying ceramic monsters which, starting at least from the Sui dynasty, were placed in the tombs to guard off the negative part of the spirit of the deceased.
In the Museum since 1902. It comes from Bing yao, Central Shanxi.
